What is difference between Bharatanatyam and Kathak Dances?



 India is a big country and has many states; each state has its own unique language, dresses up, music and dances. Some of the classical popular dances which are not popular in India that is also popular in the world. Such as Bharatanatyam Dance, Odissi, Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Bhangra Dance Costumes.


Bharatanatyam is a dance form of south India, it origin was Tamil Nadu. And so the dance has a touch of the classical Tamil Nadu music and songs. Like as dance dresses style have a touch of Tamil Nadu traditions.  Kathak is a dance form of north India and was developed by the nomads who were known as the kathak.




Bharatanatyam dance is an art and performed by the dancers of the temple and after sometimes dances were perform in the south Indian kings‘s court. And kathak was performed mostly in the court s of Muslim king. In the kathak show the Raasalila of Radha Krishna.
 Dancers of bharatanatyam use many hip movements. And some steps take the bent knees postures. But kathak dancers do not use hip movements. 

Bharatanatyam is based from the stories god Shiva and kathak is based from the stories of   Radha Krishna.
Bharatanatyam dancers wear unique jewellery known as temple jewellery included jhumka, Chandra, Surya, bindi, long mala and short mala.  And the costumes are in various styles depend on the performance like as 2 Fan 0 Pleats Pure Silk  costumes,2 Fan 3 Pleats Pure Silk dress, 2 Fan 3 Pleats Pure Silk Double Shade Costume ,2 Fan 2 Pleats Pure Silk , 2 Fan 15 Fleates Pure Silk costumes.





 Kathak dancers wear a sari for women and Dhoti for men. In the Mughal time kathak dancers wear the kurta churidar and caps.  Some of the popular name of the kathak -Lucknow Gharana, Simple Satin Kathak Costume, pure silk kathak dance costume.
